Sustaining Partners Matters . . .
The Fond du Lac Area United Way is honored to help fund 27 programs serving local community members. These programs provide care and services to many men, women and children living in the Fond du Lac area, including its surrounding rural communities. We are proud of our 17 agency partners for the work they do to sustain community well-being for families, individuals, youth, seniors, persons with disabilities, refugees, and others. AMERICAN RED CROSS: A volunteer-driven organization that provides services to members of the Armed Forces and their families, aid to disaster victims, arranges classes for CPR, First Aid, Water Safety, and Babysitting. Furnishes HIV-AIDS education materials and presentations. THE Arc of FOND DU LAC: An active voluntary membership association that promotes the general welfare of people with development disabilities through advocacy, services, and community involvement. Programs include adult opportunities center, day care, the ARC Park Learning Center and children's therapies, social development activities, special olympics, sports, respite care for youth and adults, independent living care, group homes, supported employment, and summer recreation. ASTOP, INC. (Assist Survivor, Treatment, Outreach, Prevention): Provides a link between crisis and recovery and offers supportive services to survivors of sexual assualt, rape or incest and their affected family members. BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF FOND DU LAC COUNTY, INC.: A volunteer organization that provides children (ages 5-14) from single parent families with an adult companion outside the home. Children and volunteers develop a positive one to one relationship by sharing everyday life activities. The program assists these children in their social, emotional, and character development. BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB: The Boys and Girls Club is dedicated to guiding and supporting area youth toward the discovery and fulfillment of their individual potential. With special concern for youth at risk, the Boys & Girls club provides a "home away from home", and develops values that turn young people into productive citizens and leaders of the future. CATHOLIC CHARITIES: Provides counseling for individuals, family, couples, parent/child relationships, and unwed parents. Step parent adoption studies and child abuse prevention programs are also available. Services are provided regardless of religious affiliation. CEREBRAL PALSY OF MIDEAST WISCONSIN: Offering services in the Fond du Lac area to persons of all ages having cerebral palsy or other physical handicaps and their families. Included are Out-of-home Respite Care, transportation, Residential Camp Sandy Wheels, support group, social development independent living, and toy lending library. FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER OF FOND DU LAC COUNTY: Provides parenting support services and teen pregnancy prevention programs. In addition offers 24 hour hotline, free pregnancy testing, adoption support, baby supplies, parenting programs, and special events. SOLUTIONS CENTER (Formerly Freidns Aware of Violent Relationships - FAVR): United Way funds their emergency shelter and support services for women and children who leave home because of domestic abuse. The Center offers a new 14 bedroom shelter for victims of family violence and their children. Other services provided by Solutions Center include 24 hour helpline (923-1700), individual counseling, support groups, legal advocacy, and community education. All services are free of charge. LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICES: Provides a broad range of services to youth, families and individuals with support and resources for community based programs. MANITOU GIRL SCOUT COUNCIL: Girl Scouting is a program of informal education designed to help each girl develop a deepening awareness of self, relate to others, develop values, contribute to society, and create a positive work ethic. SALVATION ARMY: Family centered emergency aid with spiritual and character building programs, visits to nursing home residents. Our program includes nutritious meals and a school age summer program. SENIOR CENTER : Senior Friends are trained volunteers, rich in life experiences, who reach out to others who find life more difficult and offer practical assistance. YMCA: Putting Christian values into practice through social, physical fitness, and educational activities. Developing the potential of young people is a paramount objective.
