We invite you to attend Suicide by Sextortion: A Father’s Story, a powerful evening dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of online sextortion and the devastating impact it can have on families and communities. This free community event will bring together law enforcement, parents, educators, youth advocates, and concerned community members for an honest conversation about prevention, resilience, and hope.
The evening will open with a presentation from the Fond du Lac Police Department. Officers will share current information about how sextortion schemes target youth in our community, common tactics used by predators, and practical steps parents and guardians can take to help protect children online.
Following this, attendees will hear from keynote speaker John DeMay, a Michigan father who lost his 17-year-old son, Jordan, to online sextortion in 2022. With great courage, John has chosen to share Jordan’s story as a way to warn others, spread awareness, and prevent future tragedies. His message is both heartbreaking and inspiring, offering families the opportunity to learn and take action.
The evening will conclude with a panel discussion featuring John DeMay alongside representatives from the Fond du Lac Police Department. This interactive session will provide an opportunity for community members to ask questions, gain further insight, and leave with a better understanding of how we can all work together to keep our youth safe.
