A New Vision for the Fond du Lac County United Way

Vision Statement

Transforming our community through collaborative partnerships to create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Why a new vision statement?

The Fond du Lac County United Way has traditionally centered its efforts on addressing the basic needs of the community. While there has always been a desire to make lasting change, we lacked a clear vision to guide our actions. The new statement is a bold vision to move from fulfilling basic needs to a community where those basic needs are met and we can focus on more aspirational goals. It won’t be easy to achieve this vision and it requires us to work throughout our community to achieve it.

What do we mean by “transforming”?

We chose the word “transforming” because we want to convey the dramatic change that we envision in our community environment. However, it’s important to understand that we are not turning our backs on the current needs of the community. Rather, we are seeking to break cycles of dependence and ultimately transform to a healthy and thriving community.

What are “collaborative partnerships”?

Through “collaborative partnerships,” we mean to highlight that we’ll work together, not only with our agencies, but with new partners to leverage positive change. We help connect those in need with those who can serve them, but we also bring together community leaders, volunteers, visionaries, and businesses to effectively address both the current needs in our community and also ways to eliminate the need at its root causes.

Why do we use the words “opportunity to reach their full potential”?

We believe that individuals are responsible for driving change in their own lives. Our goal is to eliminate barriers and foster an environment of opportunity in education, health, and income stability.
